Plain English: Be respectful, don't abuse the service, and enjoy playing chess. That's really all there is to it.
1. Acceptance
By using Chess.ceo, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. Your Account
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your account secure.
3. Your Content
When you upload PGN games or create collections:
- You retain ownership of your content.
- You grant us permission to store and display your content to you to provide the service.
- You can export or delete your content at any time.
- Don't upload content that infringes on others' rights.
4. Acceptable Use
Don't use Chess.ceo to:
- Harass, abuse, or harm others.
- Attempt to hack, disrupt, or overload our systems.
- Scrape data or use automated tools without permission.
- Violate any applicable laws.
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity.
5. Premium Subscriptions
- Premium features require a paid subscription.
- Payments are processed securely by Stripe or BTCPay.
- Stripe subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. Bitcoin payments are one-time.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis - contact us if you have issues.
6. Service Availability
- We strive to keep Chess.ceo running smoothly, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime.
- We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time.
- We'll try to notify you of significant changes in advance.
7. Termination
- You can delete your account at any time from your settings.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
- Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days.
8. Limitation of Liability
Chess.ceo is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not liable for:
- Loss of data (though we do our best to prevent it).
- Service interruptions or downtime.
- Any indirect or consequential damages.
Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms occasionally. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or a notice on the website. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany. Any disputes will be resolved in German courts.
