Chess database
A free chess database of 14.7 million games
Not a list of games to scroll: an opening tree you walk move by move, with statistics on every continuation, and preparation tools built on any player's games. Free, in the browser, no download.
The opening tree is the database
Most database sites show you a search form. Here the database sits behind the board: make a move and the tree shows every continuation ever played from that position, across 14.7 million master games.
Statistics on every move
Games played, win/draw/loss split, score and performance delta for each continuation, at any depth.
Pick your reference
Full database, elite-rated slices, 2.4M correspondence games, 9.6M engine games or the Lichess explorer. One click, same board.
Tablebase endings
With 7 or fewer pieces the tree switches to Syzygy tablebases: exact win, draw or loss for every move.
Games on demand
Any position, one click to the actual games that reached it: replay them, filter by Elo, year, result or ECO code.
Built for player preparation
The same tree works on a single player's games. Search anyone, FIDE-rated, Chess.com or Lichess, and get their complete opening repertoire: every line they play, how often, and where they score worst. For FIDE players, slice by year and time control or exclude online games. Start from ~45,000 player profiles, for example Magnus Carlsen or Hikaru Nakamura.

Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The database, opening tree, position search and player preparation are free in the browser. Premium (€4.99/month) removes daily limits and adds the correspondence and engine databases plus a 10 million game offline download.
Can I search by position?
Yes. Set up any position and find every game that reached it, or just play the moves on the board and read the tree.
Can I prepare against a specific opponent?
Yes. Search the player by name and the site builds a prep tree from their games, with their repertoire, frequencies and weak spots.
How current is it?
Broadcast games land in the database the day they are played.
